SP2A

SP2A

The SP2A is the latest model and replaces the ADC-1.

Overview

The SP2A is a standard 25mW power Byron radio (LIPD band) tag. It is an extremely versatile device and has been used in a variety of water and environmental sector situations.

It is an upgraded version of the ADC-1 tag, with A-cell battery and an improved industrial design (based on the SP3C design).

Taggle’s SP2A pulse-count AMR module is designed to suit all other pulse-output style meters. Sealed and maintenance free, the SP2A also has a 10+ year battery life (5 years for the 30 minute transmit version). The SP2A form factor is one of Taggle’s most widely used products for pulse count applications such as water, gas and electricity meters. The SP2A also monitors consumption continuously and transmits this to the network on an hourly basis, or more frequently if required.

The SP2A is a Generation 2 device, and therefore does not have full Generation 3 capabilities such as:

  • no NFC functionality

  • default security level as per the ADC-1

The Tag is white in colour.

Functional description

  • Radio - Standard power 25mW Byron radio operating in the LIPD band.

  • Sampling and Transmission - Hourly or 30 minute pulse counting and transmissions.

  • Battery - The SP2A has an A-cell battery.

  • Battery Life - 10 years for the customer.

  • NFC - No NFC support.

  • Environmental protection - Potted device and IP68 rated.

  • Bracket - SP3 stainless steel bracket (Optional accessory, sold separately).

The device uses the same moulding as Taggle’s Generation 3 devices.

  • Flight Mode - The device transmits each hour from the time it was manufactured - there is no Flight Mode on this device, and therefore no requirement to disable it.

This does not negate the requirement for the device to be ‘Activated' or 'Swiped’ when installing to ensure good signal is being heard by the receiver. See the SP2A Installation Guide for more details.
