T-probe Increment Test

T-probe Increment Test

T‑probe Increment Test (using Dataportal Swipe Dashboard)

Use this test to confirm that the T‑probe is generating pulses and that the connected Taggle device (ADC1) is incrementing correctly.

Before you start:
Make sure you have a strong magnet and you know where to swipe the ADC1:

1. Open the Dataportal Swipe Dashboard

  1. On your device, open the Taggle Dataportal:
    https://dataportal.taggle.com.au/dataportal/overview

  2. Go to the Survey → Swipe page so you can see live swipe results.

  3. Leave the Swipe dashboard open and visible while you perform the test.

2. Perform an initial swipe on the ADC1

  1. At the meter, locate the ADC1 that is connected to the T‑probe.

  2. Using a magnet, swipe the ADC1 exactly as shown here:
    https://taggle.jira.com/l/cp/94m0rs2u

  3. On the Dataportal Swipe page, the Taggle serial being tested will appear in the list of swipes.

  4. Take note of:

    • Swipe Received (time the swipe was received), and

    • The current Reading value (pulse counter).

This is your starting (before) reading.

3. Simulate meter movement with the T‑probe

  1. Run the magnet over the T‑probe to simulate the meter register turning.

    • Use the same motion shown in the attached animation:

    • Move the magnet enough times so that several pulses should be generated.

4. Swipe again and confirm increment

  1. Repeat the magnet swipe on the ADC1 (same method as in Step 5).

  2. Back on the Dataportal Swipe page, locate the new swipe record for the same Taggle serial.

  3. Check the new Reading value.

5. Interpreting the result

  • If the tag is working correctly:

    • The Reading value will have increased compared to the first Reading, and

    • The Swipe Received status is shown for the latest swipe.

    • This proves that the Taggle device is incrementing as expected from the T‑probe pulses.

  • If the Reading has not increased between the two swipes:

    • The T‑probe, wiring, or Taggle device may not be incrementing correctly and may require further investigation or a warranty/fault‑finding check.
