Logging In to the App

Logging In to the App

Logging into the Aqualus Water Field Operations App on a regular basis is simple with your pre-existing username and password. When setting up a device for the first time however, there are extra steps involved to ensure the security or your systems and customers data.

Standard Login

With a device that has already been added to your instance, you will need use your Aqualus Water username and password. Enter these details on the login page and select ‘Login’ or ‘Log In’.

The ‘Domain Login’ option in the Windows version of the Aqualus Water Field Operations App is not used and will not function as a login option.

New Device - First Time Login

When logging in to a new device or a device that has only just installed, an error will display that the device is locked, as per the image below. This is expected behaviour.

To ensure the security of your systems and customers data, any new device that is used to log in will be locked by default. Unlocking the device requires the correct level of permission and a manual change to the device’s status in the Aqualus Water Staff Portal.

There are three methods to add and authorise devices:

Device Authorisation Methods

It is highly recommended to use the ‘Connect and Approve’ method to ensure that you are approving the correct device, and to create a usable and identifiable name for the device for reference and reporting.

You will need to have the correct permission level to be able to Manage Devices - please see the Access Pemissions section for details.

You will need the Device UUID from the ‘Configuration Options’ of the Aqualus Water Field Operations App to be able to ensure you are unlocking the correct device. Please see the ‘Configuration Options Page’ section for details on how to obtain this.

Connect and Approve method:

In this method, follow the steps to configure the device as per the ‘Configure the App’ section. Once configured, use a valid username and password to login. You will receive the message:

The device has now listed itself in the Aqualus Water Staff Portal and has been locked. To unlock the device:

Sign into the sign into the staff portal, open ‘Main Menu → ‘Field Operations’ → 'Manage Devices’.

In the Mobile Device Management page, find the device that has connected to your portal by matching the Device UUID from the device to the Device UUID listed in the portal.

Note that you are also able to the see the last time the device attempted to access the portal in the ‘Last Ping’ field.

Click the ‘Edit’ button for the relevant device.

In the edit area, confirm the Device UUID again, change the name of the device for reporting and identification and remove the ‘Locked’ checkmark to unlock the device.

After a few moments, you will be able to log into the device as per normal.

Add Device Now Via Aqualus Water method:

This method is less reliable than the ‘Connect and Approve’ method, due to the requirement to manually enter the Device UUID.

Please click on the ‘Add Device Now Via Aqualus Water’ expand below for details if you would like to use this option.

In the Mobile Device Management page, click on the ‘Operations’ button at the top right-hand side and select 'Add Device Now Via Aqualus Water'.

The | or pipe symbol in the Windows version of the App are typed by pressing Shift and \. The \ is normally found directly above the Enter key.

At the bottom of the device list, the new device will now be ready to connect and is already unlocked.

After a few moments, you will be able to log into the device as per normal.

Add Device In the Field method:

This method is less reliable than the ‘Connect and Approve’ method, due to the requirement to manually enter the Device Key, requiring the device to be connected to the internet, any potential delay in transferring data between systems and the requirement to unlock the device after connection.

Please click on the ‘Add Device In the Field’ expand below for details if you would like to use this option.

In this method, follow the steps to configure the device as per the ‘Configure the App’ section. Once configured, you will use the process below to create a Device Key that will be manually entered into the device:

Sign into the sign into the staff portal, open ‘Main Menu → ‘Field Operations’ → 'Manage Devices’.

In the Mobile Device Management page, click on the ‘Operations’ button at the top right-hand side and select 'Add Device In the Field'.

You will now be given a ‘Device Key’.

As per part 2 of the instructions, enter the device key into the device in the Configuration Option area. See the table below for examples of where to enter the Device Key.

Save the configuration and the device should now be connected.

Now you have connected the device, you can proceed to the ‘Connect and Approve’ section above and follow the steps provided to continue adding the device to your Aqualus Water system.
